Tradewinds Solutions Marketplace submission advisory
CDAO Tradewinds Solutions Marketplace

You get five minutes. Most companies spend them on the wrong thing.

A five-minute pitch video is what stands between your company and a post-competition path to a defense contract. A panel scores it against a published rubric. Almost nobody reads the rubric first.

Three quarters of the score is mission and state of the art. Companies spend those minutes on a product demo, and a product demo is not what is being scored.

Videos are collected monthly and must arrive by noon Eastern on the last day of the month to be assessed in that cycle.

What Awardable status is

A shelf that defense buyers can order from without running a competition.

The Tradewinds Solutions Marketplace is a repository of post-competition pitch videos in the artificial intelligence, machine learning, digital and data analytics space. Every solution in it has already cleared a competitive, merit-based assessment.

5:00
Maximum video length. Over five minutes and it is not assessed.
24mo
How long an Awardable solution stays in the marketplace before it expires.

Aisles: main marketplace, SBIR and STTR, prototype transition.
30days
Notifications are made within 30 calendar days of the collection period.
What this is for

Eight kinds of company belong here. Most have never heard of it.

01

Commercial AI, data and software companies

You solve hard problems and assume you do not fit in defense. The marketplace exists to reach nontraditional contractors.

02

Hardware companies that assume they do not qualify

Robotics, sensing, autonomy. There is almost always a software and data layer, and framing it is most of the work.

03

Companies whose Awardable status is expiring

You were on the shelf. The clock runs 24 months and then the solution is removed.

04

Companies assessed non-awardable

You received written feedback and you are welcome to resubmit. That feedback is a map.

05

SBIR and STTR awardees facing the transition cliff

You built it with government funding. There is a dedicated aisle and a Phase III path on the far side.

06

Prototype OTA completers

There is an aisle specifically for completed prototype projects under prototype other transaction agreements.

07

Universities, labs and research institutes

Academic partners are eligible. A lab with a working capability and no commercialization path has a door here.

08

Companies already in with one solution

Nothing limits you to one. If you have three product lines, two of them are sitting on the bench.

Why us

We are not consultants who read the announcement once. We have taken nine solutions through this process and had every one assessed as Awardable.

Most were physical systems such as robotics, orbital assembly and autonomy. The skill we sell is making a hardware capability legible to a rubric written for artificial intelligence and data.

You keep the video. You keep the submission. You own the relationship with the government from day one.

How we work

Three ways in, starting with the one that costs nothing.

01Fit call

Do you qualify

Thirty minutes, no charge. We look at what you have built and tell you whether the rubric has a place for it, which aisle applies, and what the honest odds are. No deck.

02Submission sprint

One full cycle

Positioning, script, rubric mapping, video production coordination and submission inside a single monthly collection period. You approve everything and submit under your own account.

03After Awardable

Awardable to awarded

Awardable status is a door, not a check. We help build the program office list and the government-facing brief that turns a listing into a conversation with someone holding budget.

Some SBIR and STTR awardees can fund work like this through Technical and Business Assistance. Availability and rules differ sharply by agency and by solicitation, and several defense programs do not offer it at all. We check yours before anyone assumes anything.

Common questions

What people ask before the first call.

What is the Tradewinds Solutions Marketplace?
A repository of pre-assessed solutions that defense buyers can order from without running a competition.
+
What does Awardable status actually mean?
Your solution has been assessed against the rubric and found awardable. It is not a contract.
+
How long does Awardable status last?
Twenty-four months, after which the solution expires and is removed from the marketplace.
+
Can hardware companies submit?
Often yes. We translate hardware capabilities into what the rubric is actually scoring.
+
What happens if my video is assessed non-awardable?
You get written feedback and you are welcome to resubmit in a later collection period.

Straight answers

What we will not tell you.

That we can guarantee Awardable status.
A government panel decides. Nobody outside it controls the outcome.
That we have relationships with the assessors or with government buyers.
We do not, and anyone claiming otherwise should worry you.
That you qualify when you do not.
We will tell you the truth, even if it costs us the work.
That Awardable status is a contract.
It is access to buyers, not an obligation to buy.
That this is fast.
Roughly two months from starting to knowing. Rushed is expensive.
That we will work with everyone.
We keep a published list of domains we decline, because we operate in some of them ourselves.
